Bathhouse and Concession Building
As part of a Term Contract with NYSOPRHP, Beardsley provided full architectural/engineering design and construction phase services. The project consisted of renovating the existing 1960s bathhouse/concession/lifeguard building to create a more modern, ADA-compliant, seasonally used facility that meets current building code standards and incorporates some of the 1930s architectural style of the original park buildings at the Green Lakes State Park.
The project program included renovating and/or replacing the existing lifeguard offices and first aid area, concession area, rental space for group gatherings, public restrooms, and storage as needed to meet the current facility’s needs including handicap accessibility, sustainable and cost-effective building materials and systems, and reconfiguration of spaces to optimize lifeguarding of the beach. The project included site improvements such as new utilities infrastructure, new ADA access walkways around the building, re-grading of the swimming beach area and site landscaping.
